The NATO strap was the standard watch strap issued by the British Ministry of Defense (MOD). Naval personnel wore these straps during diving operations.
The name ‘NATO’ is derived from the stock numbers given to identify the strap in inventory, which was ‘NSN’ and ‘NATO’.
